I started working for Omaha Public Schools in 2012, when I became a
paraprofessional for a kindergarten classroom at Gomez Heritage
Elementary. It was there that I realized that I wanted to work with
students and help them learn through creating art. I already had my
Bachelors in Studio Arts, so I decided to go back to college and earn my
teaching certificate at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I
continued working as a para as I completed college.
When I finished college, I substituted for various schools until I
was asked to finish the year as a long term substitute teacher for
Wakonda Elementary. I liked it so much, I decided to stay and continue
teaching art to these fabulous students. I just began the year with
Edison, but getting to know the students has been an absolute joy!
I look forward to providing students with new and exciting art lessons where they can explore their creativity!
